An unusual experience

Well, a few days ago I spent money on a piece of software for the first time in years (I’m not counting WoW). Previously, I’ve always used free/opensource software for quite a long time, the last piece of software I bought was Quake 3 for Linux (in a cool tin box!).

Well, now I’ve gone and bought Parallels Desktop for Mac. Its useful for work, and it means I can run the odd piece of software I need from Linux/Windows easily on my MacBook.

It feels a little weird, paying for software. It just doesn’t seem natural. It’s not that I don’t believe in paying for software – I’ve donated a fair amount to various open source projects that I value, but its always been optional. Well, I’ll see if I’ll get burned by this soon enough I expect.
